Our guest speaker was Amanda Lundy, an advocate for children. A Colorado native, she has her Bachelor's degree in International Affairs and a Master's in Nonprofit Management. She has worked in the area of personal violence for most of her career, and feels the best way to get the community involved is through education and small acts people can do. She lives in Colorado Springs with her husband and stepson.
CASA of the Pikes Peak Region is a nonprofit organization that trains and supervises volunteers to represent the best interests of victims of child abuse, neglect, and severe domestic conflict. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court and in the community. The desired result is that children be placed in safe, loving homes where they can thrive. CASA of the Pikes Peak Region has been around since 1989. In their 25 years, over 10,000 children's lives have been changed through effective and compassionate advocacy.
