December 2015 - Monthly Meeting

Tuesday, December 8, 2015
5:30 - 7:00 pm

First United Methodist Church, Room 21, Basement
420 N Nevada Ave.
Colorado Springs, CO 80903

It has become a task force tradition that we designate our December meeting as a time for sharing food, conversation and fellowship, yet with a purpose beyond this in itself. As this holiday season symbolizes a time of giving, we too eagerly anticipate the opportunity to give back to this population group that has been laid on our hearts. So as in past years, we will collect items that we can package in restoration kits and Christmas stockings to be given to survivors of human trafficking. We will box up these items and deliver them to Restore Innocence. We also will fill Christmas stockings to be given to local survivors of trafficking and abuse. These are the items we are collecting; sweatshirts-small to large. Boy-cut style underwear-small to large. Body lotion, 18-20 oz. size. Face wash, large and extra-large slippers or flip flops, huggable sized stuff animals, Shampoo/conditioner, Hair brush, Socks, new t-shirt-no tank tops or sheer material.

We also welcome handwritten notes which we can write that night if you bring cards. And $10 donations to help with shipping costs. We will also collect boxes. We encourage your participation in this event. We long to knock down doors and rescue and love these hurting souls. This act of generosity may not be as dramatic but this is an incredible opportunity to let these survivors know that they are loved and cared for by people they do not even know. This impacts them more than you can imagine. We ask that you participate and come celebrate with us another successful year in the movement to end modern day slavery. We also ask that you let us know what you may be bringing so we can do our best to cover all these needs and not all bring the same items. We desire a balanced gift bag packaged with love and care. It is better to give than receive, the satisfaction and reward we experience will equal the joy they receive in knowing they are loved and in the simple gifts we offer.

Our meetings are open to organizations and individuals who are interested in stopping
Modern Day Slavery, especially in our community.
